G-Star School Named #1 Film High School in the World says Greg Hauptner, Founder
The G-Star School of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Broadcasting, Palm Springs, Florida has been named the Number One High School for Film in the World by the Raindance Film Festival in London, UK. The Award took place at the Apollo Theater in Piccadilly Circus in London’s prestigious West End theater district. The Raindance Film Festival is the largest independent film festival in Europe; it also owns the British Independent Film Awards and Raindance TV. While handing the Award to Greg Hauptner, the school’s Founder, at the Awards Ceremony, Raindance Founder Elliot Grove stated, “We are truly excited to give this honor as the Number One High School for Film in the World to the G-Star School of the Arts. Your representation here this year at Raindance with the highest quality film shorts and your school’s feature-length film is the testament proving that your school is indeed worthy of this honor.”
This is the first high school ever so designated by one of the leading film festivals in the world. Beau Rogers, Executive Producer of the Academy Award winning film Gods and Monsters, plus 41other feature films, made the nomination to the Raindance Film Festival on behalf of the G-Star School of the Arts. “I’ve known Greg’s school has been worthy of this award for years. I am proud to introduce the world to G-Star,” says Rogers.
“Exciting isn’t the word,” says Hauptner. “With nine shorts, one music video, one short feature and one full-length feature film appearing in the Festival, hundreds of our students can now say their work premiered at one of the largest and most famous film festivals in the world – with accolades.”

G-STAR BREAKS GROUND ON NEW SOUND STAGE!
G-Star Studios and the G-Star School of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Broadcasting announce the commencement of the construction of the largest motion picture sound stage in South Florida, and one of the largest in the state, in Palm Springs, Florida. The sound stage will join the already existing 93,000 sq. ft. movie studio complex. The G-Star Studios and G-Star School of the Arts have been in operation for over six years. “We were catering to $10 million and under budgeted films,” says Founder and CEO Greg Hauptner. “When the new sound stage opens in May, 2010 we will add on the $25 million to $50 million dollar feature film category.”
Over forty feature films, commercials, music videos and live action/interactive training films have been produced at the G-Star Studios; including some intriguing technical advances such as Radiohead’s (25 million albums sold) latest music video shot entirely without a camera on lasers. The video, entitled House of Cards, was nominated for seven Grammy’s. G-Star Studios is one of the great film incentives in the nation because it offers its Studios to filmmakers for no charge, including the new sound stage.
The new 45 ft. high sound stage is the same size as the sound stages in Los Angeles where Jurassic Park III and The Incredible Hulk movies were produced, and where Two and a Half Men and Desperate Housewives are shot today. The sound stage features a dynamic smoke evacuation system to exhaust smoke from forest fire-type scenes; and quick-release drainage floors for hurricane/storm-type scenes. It is the only sound stage anywhere in the world that is specially built to be convertible into a theater for live performances and world premier movies.
The Grand Opening will present the world premier trailer and behind-the-scenes of It’s a Dog Gone Tale: Destiny’s Stand, a new feature film that was produced at the G-Star Studios and is in post production now. The film stars Barry Bostwick (The Hanna Montana Movie, Spin City) and Ron Palillo (Welcome Back, Kotter & over 150 TV shows and feature films). Academy Award winner Bobby Moresco (Co-writer & Co-producer of Crash and Million Dollar Baby) is the Executive Creative Consultant and Dean Lyon (Special Visual Effect Supervisor on all three Academy Award winning Lord of the Rings movies, and Armageddon, Independence Day, Air Force One, Apollo 13, Superman Returns, Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) is the film’s Visual Effects and Post Production Supervisor. The film is financed by the G-Star Arts & Education Foundation through the G-Star Career & Education Scholarship Program. G-Star’s next feature film is in development now and will begin principal photography in June, 2010.
SPLINTER STUDIOS
Dean Lyon has announced the opening of his company, Splinter Studios, on the G-Star Studios back lot. Dean and his crew will be providing Digital Post Production, Visual Effects and Computer Graphics for major feature films and other projects as well as producing his own slate of feature films. In addition, Splinter Studios will be a certified training center for the next generation of special visual effects artists and directors with a unique approach to editing, compositing, color grading and 2-D and 3-D computer animation.
The G-Star School of the Arts is the largest Film, TV Production and Acting high school in the nation; and the only high school in the world with a commercial motion picture studio on its campus.
